Student Opportunities

Graduate research opportunities are available on a regular basis in arctic, alpine, saline, and boreal lake research. Questions focus on the effects of climate change and atmospheric nitrogen deposition on lake ecosystems. Research approaches in the diatom ecology lab involve paleolimnological and contemporary ecological methods.

Undergraduate research opportunities are also available on a regular basis for the same projects described above. Students typically conduct their own research projects while assisting with fieldwork on a variety of projects. Undergraduate research positions are funded positions, and students may also earn credit for their research activities.

Students may also work in the diatom ecology lab as technicians paid on an hourly basis.

Please contact Jasmine Saros (jasmine.saros@maine.edu) to discuss available projects and positions.
